You will design and implement software components interfacing with the virtualization core and the API used by the GUI and CLI tools.

Oracle VM VirtualBox is a leading desktop virtualization product for x86 and AMD64/Intel64 processors, spanning a wide range of applications from enterprise to home use. It is used as a standalone product or as a component of other Oracle products such as Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, offering to run a wide variety of operating systems in a virtual machine on popular host operating systems (Linux, Windows, Solaris, MacOS X). The candidate will be part of an international engineering team responsible for the development of VirtualBox. The workload in the team covers an extremely broad range from system programming in kernel space to high level programming interfaces and scripting. As a consequence the tasks of each developer are also varying within the individual area of expertise. The role will be attractive for either junior or senior software developers who enjoy working in an environment where they continually have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and to acquire new skills, delivering a very popular product which both generates revenue and has an open source community. He/she will design and implement software components interfacing with the virtualization core and the API used by the GUI and CLI tools. This includes virtual device emulations and other user visible functionality improvements. The components can be running on the host and/or in the virtual machine, which means that it always has to cover multiple platforms.

The candidate should have the following experience and qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science / Informatics or related fields
• Good analytical skills
• Ability to work independently in an efficient manner
• Strong skills developing in C/C++ in an environment with low error margin
• Good technical skills with initial experience in development of a complex software product
• Broad hardware, OS and networking knowledge
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good English skills, again both written and verbal The following would be an advantage:
• 2-5 years of working experience with comparable system level software
• Development experience in a cross-platform environment
• Knowledge in virtualization core functionality
• Knowledge of Windows kernel internals
